The congresswoman secured a second term from voters in the 7th Congressional District.

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley handedly won a second term Tuesday, telling supporters she still had much to do in Washington D.C.
“Together, we have fought for our shared humanity. We have organized. We have mobilized. We have legislated our values,” the Dorchester Democrat wrote in a tweet, shortly after the Associated Press called the 7th Congressional District race. “I am so proud to be your Congresswoman & your partner in the work.”
“I believe in the power of us,” Pressley continued. “And we’re just getting started.”

Pressley carried 87.8 percent of the vote against independent Roy Owens, who garnered 12.2 percent, with just under 85 percent of the district’s precincts reporting after 11:30 p.m.
In 2018, Pressley soared into Congress following a primary election upset against then-incumbent Rep. Michael Capuano.
