If it feels like there have never been more choices when it comes to how and when to vote, it’s not your imagination. Owing partly to limitations necessitated by the global coronavirus pandemic and partly to efforts to streamline the voting process in recent years, voters in today’s Massachusetts primary elections had many options: voting in person last week, mailing in their ballot, dropping it off, or of course showing up at the polls today.

As of Monday morning more than 850,000 voters had already cast their ballots, according to Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin, who estimated that 1.2 to 1.3 million Democrats and approximately 150,000 Republicans would vote by the time polls close Tuesday night.
