Earlier this week, Rep. Ayanna Pressley said she was still waiting to make an endorsement in the 2020 presidential primary.

“I’ll move when I move,” Pressley told the Associated Press in an interview Monday.

The wait is over.

The Massachusetts congresswoman announced Wednesday afternoon that she is backing Sen. Elizabeth Warren in the Democratic primary, citing her fellow Bay Stater’s “consistent” advocacy and ambitious plans to produce “fundamental change.”

“You’ve all heard about the senator’s plans, but here’s the thing: the plans are about power — who has it, who refuses to let it go, and who deserves more of it,” Pressley said in a video released by Warren’s campaign. “For Elizabeth and me, the power belongs in the hands of the people.”

The endorsement comes after three of Pressley’s fellow members of the so-called “Squad” of progressive freshman congresswoman recently endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders in the 2020 race. However, the Dorchester Democrat has maintained that she would make an individual decision and has worked with Warren on legislation.

In a press release from her campaign team, Pressley cited Warren’s work to “erase income inequality and close the racial wealth gap, address the gun violence epidemic, and dismantle structural racism.”

“Elizabeth has made it her life’s work to pursue justice for working families and put economic and political power in the hands of people,” she said.

In a tweet, Warren thanked Pressley for her support.

Pressley is slated to join Warren on the campaign trail Thursday in North Carolina and participate in a town hall in Raleigh.

“This election is a fight for the very soul of our nation,” Pressley said in her endorsement video. “Elizabeth knows how to fight and she knows how to win. I’m proud to call her my senator. I can’t wait to call her our president.”
