What Mass. politicians are saying after John McCain’s decision to stop medical treatment
"Senator John McCain is a warrior in every sense of the word."
Sen. John McCain, who shared he was battling brain cancer last summer, has elected to discontinue medical treatment “with his usual strength of will,” his family said Friday.
My family is deeply appreciative of all the love and generosity you have shown us during this past year. Thank you for all your continued support and prayers. We could not have made it this far without you – you’ve given us strength to carry on. pic.twitter.com/KuAQSASoa7

McCain, a former Navy pilot and the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, first began serving in the Senate in 1986. He has been away from the Capitol since December due to his illness.
His family said in the statement that McCain has surpassed expectations for his survival but “the progress of disease and the inexorable advance of age render the verdict.”
After learning of the Arizona senator’s decision, politicians across Massachusetts have been sharing their reactions to the news and statements on the senator.
