Michael Capuano had to pay off a Super Bowl bet during a congressional hearing
"When you lose a bet you have to pay up."
Thirteen years ago, Rep. Bob Brady, of Philadelphia, made a wager with Rep. Marty Meehan, of Massachusetts, on Super Bowl XXXIX between the Eagles and the Patriots. The terms of the bet were that the loser would have to wear the winning team’s helmet for a week around the Capitol.
Of course, Brady would lose the bet and was forced to don a Patriots helmet (much to Meehan’s delight).
On Tuesday, Brady got his revenge — albeit on a different Massachusetts congressman.

During a House Financial Services Committee hearing Tuesday morning, Rep. Michael Capuano was spotted wearing the shiny emerald helmet of the Super Bowl LII victors.
“When you lose a bet you have to pay up,” the Somerville Democrat later tweeted.
“Congrats to the Eagles,” he said. “As a lifelong Boston sports fan I understand droughts. Thanks to the Patriots for another great season.”
Capuano then pivoted to a more favorable subject, as any adept politician would.
“Pitchers and catchers report in less than 2 weeks,” he said. “Go Red Sox!”

Brady, however, was unapologetic in victory.
