Somerville’s mayor is keeping score in sanctuary city battle with Trump

Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone is apparently keeping score in the ongoing skirmish between President Donald Trump and so-called sanctuary cities. After a federal judge on Tuesday blocked Trump’s move to withhold funding from cities that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement, Curtatone took to Twitter to share the latest “score” in the conflict.

Curtatone was just one of the leaders of several Massachusetts cities that hailed the ruling blocking Trump’s order.

Somerville is one of a number of municipalities that have labeled themselves as so-called sanctuaries for illegal immigrants.

On Facebook Tuesday, Curtatone said it was a “good day in court” for sanctuary cities, adding, “Lesson here: don’t take legal advice from Jeff Sessions.”
