Would Marty Walsh cross party lines to vote for Charlie Baker? He’s not ruling it out
"You never know."
We know that Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and Gov. Charlier Baker get along. But would the Democratic mayor break party lines to vote for the Republican governor’s re-election?
Walsh isn’t ruling it out.
In an interview Tuesday on WGBH’s Greater Boston, Walsh emphasized that he has never before voted for a Republican and the Democratic field for the 2018 Massachusetts gubernatorial election is still in flux. But still…
“I’m not ruling out anything,” Walsh told WGBH’s Jim Braude, later adding. “You never know. We’ll see what happens in the field.”
Earlier in the interview, Walsh was asked about a recent poll showing that Baker was the most popular governor in America with 75 percent approval ratings.
“Would you have been part of the 75 percent?” Braude asked.
Despite his concerns about MBTA privatization, Walsh said, for the most part, yes.
“I probably would have — yeah, I would have,” he said. “I mean, I think on most thing’s he’s moved the state along in a good way.”
