Sen. Elizabeth Warren issued a sharp message Tuesday opposing the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, saying Trump’s nominee “isn’t just another Justice Scalia” in an email sent out to supporters.“When it comes to the rules that protect public health and safety, Gorsuch is actually more radical than Justice Scalia was,” the Massachusetts Democrat said. “If Gorsuch had his way, he’d make it even easier for corporations to challenge health and safety rules that prevent them from polluting our air and water, poisoning our food, undermining public safety, or cheating people out of their savings.”The senator reiterated her opinion that, despite the fact that Gorsuch is well-spoken and polite, his record on the bench shows “he’s twisted himself into a pretzel to help giant corporations.” Warren has made her opposition to Gorsuch clear since his nomination was announced in January. In her speech on the Senate floor Tuesday, Warren said it would be “crazy” to confirm any nominee from Trump while the FBI is investigating Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election and potential links to the Trump campaign.
