Trump won with Twitter. Now he is losing because of Twitter.
This could have been a very good week for President Trump. It might have begun with generally positive hearings for his Supreme Court nominee, whom Republicans love and Democrats haven’t even announced they will filibuster.
Then, later in the week, the US House appeared on track to pass the replacement bill for the Affordable Care Act. Last weekend, a whip count suggested that the bill would narrowly pass if more Republicans didn’t defect.
But neither of those stories are dominating the news. Instead, it’s the bombshell announcement from FBI director James Comey that the Trump’s campaign is under investigation for potential links to Russia’s efforts to meddle in the US presidential election. Comey wouldn’t say who specifically was being targeted in the investigation, but he also didn’t shoot down the possibility that Trump himself might already be under scrutiny.
