Melissa McCarthy reprises her role as a podium-wielding Sean Spicer on Saturday Night Live

Alec Baldwin made his much-anticipated 17th hosting appearance in last night’s Saturday Night Live, but it was Melissa McCarthy who starred in the show’s prime slot.
After last week’s reportedly White House-rattling sketch, McCarthy reprised her role as Sean Spicer, Donald Trump’s press secretary, during the episode’s cold open.

“Sit down!” McCarthy, entering the conference room, yelled at the press corps. “I would like to announce that I’m calm now.”
“Spicer” also announced he would be cutting back his infamous gum-chewing habit to just once slice a day.

After struggling through the names of a number of foreign dignitaries, McCarthy turned the floor over to questions. Perhaps in reference to the Rhode Island native‘s recent embrace of props, McCarthy took an unorthodox approach when answering several of them.

After several more exaggerated claims, McCarthy then wielded the podium in frustration.
