Galvin tells Trump ‘put up or shut up’ about unproven voter fraud claims

The state’s top elections official challenged President Donald J. Trump to “put up or shut up” with his false claims about election fraud, describing the misstatements as a personal affront to the voters of Massachusetts who helped propel Hillary Clinton to a popular vote victory.

Secretary of State William F. Galvin said in an interview that the Republican president is putting at risk the public’s faith in the integrity of a voting system that officials across the state and the nation have worked hard to safeguard.

Galvin said there was no evidence in Massachusetts of any of the issues Trump raised as he announced Wednesday morning a planned fraud investigation. The president said the probe would look into people casting ballots in multiple states, votes cast by non-citizens, and votes on behalf of dead people.
