Read Barack Obama’s final tweets as president
President Obama offered a final farewell to the American people Friday morning in the form of a series of tweets, which will be his last using the Twitter handle @POTUS.
It’s been the honor of my life to serve you. You made me a better leader and a better man.

“It’s been the honor of my life to serve you,” he wrote, echoing sentiments from his thank you letter to the American people. “You have made me a better leader and a better man.”
He directed followers to the Obama Foundation website, where they can reach out to the outgoing president: “As we look forward, I want our first steps to reflect what matters most to you. Share your thoughts with me at Obama.org.”
Obama’s last tweet encouraged Americans to believe in themselves and hearkened back to the theme of his 2008 presidential campaign: change.
“I’m still asking you to believe – not in my ability to bring about change, but in yours,” he wrote. “I believe in change because I believe in you.”
President-elect Donald Trump will gain control of the @POTUS twitter account after he is sworn in Friday, although he has indicated that he will continue to use his personal account, @realDonaldTrump, as his primary handle.
