After losing her re-election bid last month, Sen. Kelly Ayotte officially bid farewell to the U.S. Senate in a speech Wednesday morning.

The outgoing Republican senator thanked New Hampshire residents, among others, for their support and inspiration during her time on Capitol Hill.

“True to the nature of our great state, they have never been shy about letting me know what’s on their mind,” Ayotte said. “Whether it was at one of the 50 town hall meetings we held or in the grocery aisle at the Market Basket.”

NH1 News posted full video of the speech via CSPAN.

Ayotte will be succeeded in the Senate by New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan, a Democratic, who won by less than a thousand votes in a closely fought race. Hassan joins the Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen representing the Granite State in the Senate.
