Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont will be part of the Democratic party’s leadership next year. Senate Democrats unanimously elected Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York Wednesday to replace retiring minority leader Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada next year. Warren will serve as vice chair and Sanders will be the chair of outreach when Congress convenes in January.

On Twitter, the Vermont senator cheered the election of Schumer.

In addition to an administration led by President-elect Donald Trump, Democrats face a Republican-controlled Congress when they return to the capitol next year.
