Many people are happy that Massachusetts just legalized recreational marijuana

'Thank Christ. Looks like we'll need it.'

New York state lawmakers voted to legalize marijuana for medical use in 2014 and the law took effect in January 2016. Currently, five organizations are allowed to grow and sell the drug for medical use in the state. As many Massachusetts voters—who supported Hillary Clinton by a double-digit margin—watched the returns come in with a stronger-than-expected showing for Donald Trump, many couldn’t help but notice the silver lining in becoming the first eastern state to legalize recreational marijuana the same day.

Across the country in California, a fellow liberal state that also voted to legalize recreational marijuana Tuesday, the feelings were similar.
