The New York Times slaps down Trump’s threat to sue over sexual assault report
Donald Trump is threatening to sue The New York Times for libel over a story the paper published Wednesday night, in which two women accused the Republican presidential nominee of unwanted sexual advances.
“Your article is reckless, defamatory and constitutes libel per se,” Marc E. Kasowitz, Trump’s lawyer, wrote in a letter, demanding a retraction and an apology.
“Failure to do so will leave my client with no option but to pursue all available actions and remedies,” he added.
The Times‘s response, in essence: Bring it on.
“We welcome the opportunity to have a court set [Trump] straight,” replied the paper’s lawyer, David E. McCraw.
