Trump releases 1-page summary of medical records from doctor
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump released on Thursday a one-page summary of a physical examination that took place last week.“Mr. Trump is in excellent physical health,” Dr. Harold Bornstein, Trump’s personal physician for the past 30 years, wrote in the letter dated Tuesday. According Bornstein, Trump’s blood pressure is 116 over 70, which is considered normal. But Trump’s weight of 236 pounds puts the body mass index for the candidate, who is 6-foot and 3-inches tall, close the to the range of obesity, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s BMI calculator. Bornstein said the 70-year-old candidate has a cholesterol level of 169 and is taking a statin and low dose aspirin.
“His liver function and thyroid function tests are all within normal range,” Bornstein wrote.
A press release accompanying the letter on Trump’s campaign website stated that the New York real estate mogul “determined in light of increased scrutiny of candidates’ health, it was important to have a detailed physical examination for all the various standard tests.”
Bornstein previously stated that if elected, Trump would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”
The release of the letter follows a day after Trump taped a segment with celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz, which will air Thursday afternoon on “The Dr. Oz Show.”
