This is what happens when you go to the Puritan Backroom the day before a New Hampshire primary

You meet ALL the candidates, whether you want to or not.

Monday probably seemed like a nice day to get away for lunch at the Puritan Backroom.

And it probably was—if you enjoy your meal being repeatedly interrupted by political candidates.

New Hampshire’s state primary elections are Tuesday. And at the Puritan—a historic Manchester restaurant and popular campaign stop—that means candidates, as these five women learned Monday.

Seated at some time shortly after noon, their table was immediately barraged by two Republican gubernatorial candidates.

Note that between visits from Executive Councilor Chris Sununu (above) and Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas (below, top right), none of the patrons have made much progress on their drinks.

At least, the two candidates for governor came while the table was still on their drinks and appetizers. One would reasonably assume they could now finish their meal in peace.

Wrong!

There’s a Republican primary in New Hampshire’s first congressional district. And have you met Rich Ashooh, the challenger in the race? No? Well, it turns out he used to work at the Puritan. Also, he’s right beside you.

Hopefully their chicken tenders didn’t get too cold; politicians have lost votes over less.
