Elizabeth Warren literally shrugs off a potential Curt Schilling run

Sen. Elizabeth Warren isn’t worried about the possibility of facing Curt Schilling in an election.

The former Red Sox star and conservative meme-sharer recently floated the idea of running for Senate in 2018 to take down Warren.

“I would like to be one of the people responsible for getting Elizabeth Warren out of politics,” Schilling said on WRKO-AM. “She’s a nightmare. The left’s holding her up as the second coming of Hillary Clinton. Lord knows we don’t need the first.”

Warren was asked about those comments on Thursday at Roxbury Community College. She responded with little more than a dismissive shrug.

“I get out there every day and try to do my work on behalf of the people of Massachusetts,” Warren said. “I’m also involved in this presidential campaign, trying to make sure that Donald Trump never gets anyplace near the White House. That’s what really matters to me.”

She was then asked if she was worried about an election against the World Series-winning pitcher.

“No.”

Schilling, meanwhile, recently posted a lengthy article to his personal blog defending his meme-sharing, explaining what went wrong with his failed company 38 Studios, and attacking Elizabeth Warren.

“[If] I were to run against this woman for a position in the Senate I would do so on two things. My ability to kick her ass in Washington and actually achieve something more than creating a committee,” he wrote.

Still, he’s not committing either way.

“Will I run?” Schilling wrote. “I don’t know. I honestly don’t.”
