After Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump received the Purple Heart he “always wanted” from a supporter, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren criticized the candidate, saying he didn’t seem to understand the gravity of the reward he had received.

“I think Trump wants to win everything,” she said in a Sunday morning WCVB segment. “The problem is, he just stands up every single day and says, what new way can I prove that I’m unfit to be president of the United States?”

Last week in Virginia, Donald Trump said he had “always wanted a Purple Heart,” after a veteran gave him the medal at a rally — despite the fact that he never served in the military.

“This was much easier,” he said.

Warren has become one of the most outspoken opponents of Trump, feuding with him on Twitter and publicly decrying his controversial statements and policy plans.

“I don’t think that Trump plans much of anything,” she said. “He’s a man that seems to be driven by impulse — some of those impulses seem to come from deep within. I don’t pretend to understand that.”

Warren, who said her three brothers served in the military, criticized Trump for “appropriating” the sacrifice military personnel and their families make for their country.

“I keep asking myself, what kind of man does this sort of thing?” she said. “It was just that instant of flash about what that means. What a Purple Heart meant.”
