‘The Simpsons’ mocks Donald Trump’s obsessive Twitter beef with Elizabeth Warren
It’s 3 a.m. and there’s an international emergency. Where is President Donald Trump?
Tweeting at Elizabeth Warren, of course.
That’s the vision of President Trump presented by The Simpsons in a short clip posted to YouTube over the weekend. The video, parodying Hillary Clinton’s “3 a.m. Call” commercial from the 2008 Democratic primary, features Homer and Marge watching faux-commercials on TV as they decide who to vote for in November.
In the video, Trump holds his phone while sitting up in bed, with a book of speeches by Hitler at his side. He initially declines to answer a call from the situation room, instead returning to his ongoing Twitter fight with Warren, the U.S. senator from Massachusetts.
“Not now, I’m on Twitter. ‘…and Elizabeth Warren tweets too damn much. Glad I exiled her.’ Send,” Trump says. “Oh, and put my name on the Lincoln Memorial, make Chris Christie eat a worm just for laughs, disband NATO, and make me some scrambled eggs in a gold plate.”
That real-life Trump-Warren Twitter fight, which began months ago, has shown no signs of relenting 100 days from the election.
Still, the parody is a bit unrealistic. The real-life Trump has almost always called the senator “Goofy Elizabeth Warren” and “Pocahontas.”
