Elizabeth Warren tells the story behind her Twitter attacks on Donald Trump

Senate leaders said Tuesday that Democrats have enough votes to block action on President Barack Obama's trade initiatives unless the parties can work out disagreements on how to package various bills. LOL.

That was literally Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s response when she found out Donald Trump had branded her the nickname, “goofy.”

“I laughed out loud,” the Massachusetts Democrat told The Boston Globe‘s Annie Linskey, adding that she expected that Trump would “punch back” following her Indiana primary night tweetstorm.

When Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, finally did three days later, Warren said she was working puzzles with her grandchildren during a trip to Los Angeles.

And to those who may have thought a social media staffer penned those Friday night tweets: Nope, Warren says she wrote them herself.

“I left the kids and went to the other room and wrote the tweets,” she said.

The two clashed again Wednesday night, as Warren has become one of the rare politicians to effectively take on Trump—evidenced by the fact the GOP candidate has felt it necessary to respond to her attacks with tweetstorms of his own.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign even thanked Warren for the assistance, per the Globe‘s report.

“As a leader and major advocate in holding Wall Street accountable, Senator Warren’s voice is particularly important and we are glad she’s helping lead the fight,” said Christina Reynolds, a spokeswoman for Clinton.

Warren has still yet to endorse either Clinton or Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary.

Another sign of Warren’s rising importance among Democrats, the Globe report corroborated a Politico report earlier Thursday that Vice President Joe Biden wanted Warren to be his running mate, if he had launched a 2016 presidential campaign.

“If I have my way,” Biden reportedly told Warren during their lunch meeting last August at the vice president’s residence, “you’ll be living here.”
