Bernie Sanders is returning to New England this week. The Democratic presidential hopeful is holding a rally at UMass Amherst on Monday, a week ahead of the commonwealth’s primary on March 1.

A statement from the Sanders campaign said the event, being held at the university’s William D. Mullins Memorial Center, is free and tickets aren’t required, though attendees are encouraged to RSVP.

Massachusetts and Sanders’ home state of Vermont are the two New England states slated to vote on Super Tuesday.

Sanders isn’t the first candidate to turn attention to the Bay State ahead of the primary. Ohio Governor John Kasich held a campaign event in Worcester on Saturday, the day of the Republican primary in South Carolina.
