For some reason TV hosts kept botching Bernie Sanders’ name last night

Bernie Sandwiches? Bernie Sandals?

“San-ders’’ — it shouldn’t be too hard to say.

Yet following Bernie Sanders’ win in the New Hampshire primary Tuesday, the Vermont senator’s name was repeatedly mispronounced on cable news.

First we go to MSNBC’s Chris Hayes (at about nine-second mark), who was speculating on the appeal of “Bernie Sandwiches.’’

Hayes, at least, had an excuse, which he explained on Wednesday night’s show.

Over at Fox News on Tuesday, Megyn Kelly projected the New Hampshire primary would be won by “Bernie Sandals’’ on the Democratic side.

“Sandals, that could catch on in the summer months,’’ Kelly said, attempting to recover.

As Hayes acknowledged, both flubs soon thereafter became Internet memes. Some speculated over what a Bernie Sandwich would contain…
