Hecklers in New Hampshire try to cleanse Ted Cruz’s ‘demonic soul’ with exorcism
“Let the evil spirit leave, leave your power-hungry, demonic soul.’’
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has been called a hypocrite and inconsistent — among other names — but “demonic’’ is a new one for the evangelical Texas senator.
While speaking at the Tuckaway Tavern and Butchery in Raymond, New Hampshire Monday, Cruz was interrupted by two men seeking to perform an exorcism on him.
“Ted Cruz, look in the mirror and let the evil spirit leave, leave your power-hungry, demonic soul,’’ one of the men yelled, holding a crucifix in his right hand and pointing a mirror at Cruz.
Cruz called the heckler a “very confused fellow,’’ and accused the Bernie Sanders campaign of placing him in the crowd.
“Look at yourself in the mirror,’’ a second heckler yelled, taking the mirror and waving it in Cruz’s direction.
As the two men were escorted out, Cruz took the opportunity to take a shot at liberals.
“You know, the very odd thing, usually lefties don’t believe in God,’’ Cruz told the crowd, who greeted the quip with laughter and applause.
The hecklers, who did not give their names, later spoke to The Dallas Morning News.
“He’s very hard to be in the same room with. We had to exorcise some sort of disgusting evil spirit. There’s a reason that the body is so haggard and disgusting, and the face, and it’s all so weathered and gross and hard to look at.’’
