The opening of the GOP debate was completely bungled
Before a candidate had said a single word, the Republican debate had already gone off the rails.
Several candidates at Saturday night’s debate at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire failed to walk on stage when their cue was called, creating a logjam to the side of the stage.
The problem started when the debate moderators with ABC News introduced Ben Carson to the stage. The doctor apparently didn’t hear his name, and so he lounged off to the side as the crowd cheered.
Even when a man in headphones twice motioned for Carson to go on stage, he stopped. Ted Cruz passed him by.
Donald Trump then was called to the stage, but stopped alongside Carson to wait. Both Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush passed them by.
Their names were repeated again, and everyone made their way to their podiums — that is, everyone except for Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
“What about Kasich? Can I introduce Kasich?,’’ Chris Christie asked.
“It’s so noisy in here,’’ moderator David Muir explained before calling Kasich to the stage.
Better late than never.
