At odds with GOP on Planned Parenthood, Elizabeth Warren asks: ‘What’s with you guys?’

The Massachusetts senator took to the Senate floor again to decry efforts to defund Planned Parenthood.

Four months after Senator Elizabeth Warren went on a seven-minute tirade against Republican senators attempting to defund Planned Parenthood, she took to the floor again Thursday.

Warren reiterated her support for the organization and berated Republican senators seeking to strip federal funding from the organization yet again, calling the measure a “radical assault’’ on reproductive rights.

“Today, I am back to check on my Republican colleagues because it appears they are suffering from a serious case of memory loss,’’ she said. “Now before I call the doctors at Mass General, I just want to say this really isn’t a joke. I truly, honestly cannot come up with a better reason why my Republican colleagues have forced us back to the Senate floor once again to talk about another reckless scheme to defund Planned Parenthood.’’

“What’s with you guys?’’ the Massachusetts senator asked, throwing her hands in the air.

After Warren made a similar, heated speech in August, the Senate failed to pass the proposed bill. Now, Republican senators are gearing up to introduce a reconciliation bill that would need only 50 votes to pass rather than the standard 60.

Again, Warren isn’t about to let such a bill pass unnoticed.

“In case my republican colleagues are suffering from short-term memory loss, let me spell this out again, loud and clear: We will not allow you to turn back the clock on women’s health and women’s rights,’’ she said. “We will fight you every step of the way, and we will win. That is not a threat, that is a promise.’’
