Like many visitors to the famed Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh was challenged to catch a slippery fish thrown in his direction.

The mayor decided to channel a hometown hero known for his own interception of a Seattle throw.

“Caught it like Malcolm Butler,’’ Walsh said in a tweet.

Yes, Walsh rubbed some salt in the wound that was the Seahawks last-second Super Bowl loss to the Patriots during a visit to Seattle on Monday. Walsh’s visit to the northwest was part of a summit with Seattle Mayor Ed Murray and tech executives that focused on how growing cities can maintain a high quality of life.

It wasn’t all snarky teasing for the mayor. Walsh also said that Seahawks fans were being “very classy’’ during his visit.
