Former governor Paul Cellucci laid to rest

Funeral services for former Massachusetts governor Argeo Paul Cellucci took place on Friday at St. Michael Parish in Hudson. Friends, family, and politicians attended to pay respects to the Commonwealth’s former chief executive.

People on Main Street watched the funeral procession leave the church.

Two members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police saluted the casket as State Police pallbearers carried it to the hearse after the service. Cellucci served as the US ambassador to Canada from 2001 to 2005.

Governor Deval Patrick stood with US Senator Elizabeth Warren as the service let out.

People lined the center of town to match the funeral procession on Main Street as it headed to the cemetery.

Veronique Turner from Marlborough wore a hat that she got in the 1980s as she watched the funeral procession go down Main Street.

State Police saluted as the casket of Paul Cellucci was carried from St. Michael Parish.

Hudson resident Jim Rittenhouse watched the funeral on his front steps across the street from the church. “Everybody in town knew him,” he said.

A procession mades its way from downtown to the church under the fire department’s US flag.
