Is she a governor, or is she a Seger governor?
Flexing her social media savvy and even “splitting the G,” Gov. Maura Healey made a guest appearance in the latest video from Watertown native Brian Daly, who’s gone viral for judging bars by one simple metric: whether they’ll rock out to Bob Seger.
Healey joined Daly for a Guinness and some old time rock ‘n’ roll at the aptly named Beacon Hill bar 21st Amendment, asking the bartender to “throw on some Seger.”
Her pick? “Still the Same.”
After awarding the bartender a “certified Seger bar” sticker, Healey shared an anecdote about seeing Seger perform live while she was working as a cocktail waitress at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom.
So, how did Daly get Healey to make a cameo? According to The Boston Globe, it was pure coincidence.
Daly told the newspaper he first met the governor last year when he was a plus-one to the 125th anniversary celebration for the Local 103 union. Flash forward to 2026, and he ran into the governor “in the wild” while filming one of his Seger bar videos. Boston.com has reached out to Daly for comment.
Healey reportedly recognized Daly and called out his signature catchphrase: “Is it a Seger bar?”
“I thought that was the coolest thing,” he told the Globe. “She recognized the bit, and then from there … I just felt like it was a natural thing to invite her on as a co-star.”
Daly added: “I thought it was cool to kind of have the opportunity to paint her as a human, not as a suit.”
