Both fans of “Wicked Tuna” and loved ones are mourning the loss of Nicholas “Duffy” Fudge, a fisherman and cast member of the reality television show who died unexpectedly last Thursday at the age of 28, according to his obituary.
Fudge served as the first mate on Capt. Tyler McLaughlin’s fishing vessel, Pinwheel — one of several boats the show follows as each crew attempts to reel in the greatest amount of bluefin tuna. His cause of death was not released.

A Topsfield, Massachusetts, native, Fudge first began tuna fishing with his father and grandfather as a child, according to his obituary. Over the years, he climbed the ranks and eventually became one of the top sport fisherman in the country — earning himself a place on the National Geographic program.
In his obituary, relatives remembered the Portsmouth High School graduate and Greenland, New Hampshire, resident for his athletic ability, passion for the environment, and “heart of gold.”

Greenland – Nicholas S. “Duffy” Fudge, 28, of Greenland, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 19, 2018.
He was born August 1, 1989 in Topsfield, MA a son of Ronald Fudge Jr. of Topsfield and Judy (VanDeVoorde) Fudge of Greenland.
Nick graduated from Portsmouth High School. He excelled in any sport he played, and among his favorites were fishing, hockey, lacrosse, skiing, snowboarding, and surfing.
His passions were fishing and the outdoors. As a child, Nick began tuna fishing with his father and grandfather. After becoming one of the top sport fishermen in the country, he earned a place on the National Geographic reality show Wicked Tuna for multiple seasons. Nick also treasured the environment and he took seriously his responsibility to protect it.
Someone once said, “Nick was always the coolest kid, but he had a way of making you feel like you were just as cool.” His presence could light up any room and he had a heart of gold. He was known for his smile, his fearlessness, his adventurous spirit, his mischievous sense of humor, and giving big hugs.
Nick now begins his next adventure to locate his missing cell phones, ID’s, and credit cards.
In addition to his parents, he leaves his “younger” brother Cody Fudge; paternal grandfather Ronald Fudge Sr. of Topsfield; maternal grandparents Terry & Connie VanDeVoorde of Nashua; girlfriend Ali Currier of Holderness and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
He was predeceased by his grandmother Marilyn Fudge.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.
