Rudy Giuliani was at Yankee Stadium today on his birthday, and the fans there weren’t in much of a spirit to offer good wishes.

They booed him when the Yankees wished him a happy birthday over the speakers.

Giuliani, who was celebrating his 74th birthday, was at the stadium with his son. He was mayor of New York from 1994 to 2001, so he’s known to residents in that city.

But he may be more known now for his role as a lawyer for President Trump, advising the president on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. Giuliani has seemed to be a ubiquitous presence on cable news shows recently, defending Trump and questioning Mueller’s tactics and motivations.

The former mayor recalled pitching in a celebrity softball event at Yankee Stadium — ‘‘we won, I’m 1-0 here,’’ he said on the field before the game, the Associated Press reported.

The Yankees lost to the Astros, 5-1.
