Maine woman found with a needle in her arm alongside her toddler

WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) — A Winslow woman is facing charges after police say they found her passed out in her car with a needle in her arm and her toddler in the vehicle.

The Morning Sentinel reports 26-year-old Kathryn Hopkins was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence of drugs and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police responded to the report of a woman passed out in the car with a needle in her arm at a gas station in Waterville around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday. Police say a 4-year-old child was also in the car.

Police say the child is fine and has been placed in the custody of the child’s grandparents.

Hopkins is due in court on Jan. 3. It was not immediately known if she’s being represented by an attorney.
