‘Slap Her’ Video Shows Little Men With Big Hearts

Boy meets girl. Boy likes girl. Boy refuses to slap her in the face.

This video interviewing a series of young men all under the age of 11 shows childrens’ reactions to violence against women. The video was published to Youtube by Fanpage on Jan. 4 and already has over two million views.

In the video, the young men are asked to compliment the young girl. They are asked to make a funny face at the girl to make her laugh. They are asked to caress her. All of the boys adorably oblige. Then they are asked to slap her.

This social experiment was conducted by Italian video journalist Luca Lavarone on a busy Italian street, stopping multiple young boys and their families.

The heartwarming video show the boys’ refusal to go through with the last task, but their reasonings are a real tear-jerker.

According to a UN Women, a 2013 global review of available data found that 35 percent of women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence. However, some national violence studies show that up to 70 percent of women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime from an intimate partner.

Violence against women is not an option in these boys’ worlds.

One of the younger boys explained his disgust towards violence best: ‘Why? Because I’m a man!’
