Original Story: North Carolina A&T State University has been locked down as officials investigate reports of a gunman on campus, according to the Associated Press. Several buildings have been cleared of students as law enforcement checks for the potential shooter.
The schools is a historically black university in Greensboro with approximately 9,000 students, according to the AP.
The school experienced a similar lockdown in April 2013, when reports of a gunman on campus were investigated by law enforcement. No shots were fired in the 2013 incident.
A 21-year-old was shot on campus in November 2013, according to USA Today.
The school has tweeted several updates on the current situation, which was first reported at 10:34 a.m. Monday.
