After 31 years of playing country music on Country 102.5, radio host Carolyn Kruse announced her retirement on-air on Friday.

“You know how every song has a beginning, middle, and end?” Kruse asked listeners. “Well today my friends, I’m here to tell you that my radio song is about to fade out.”

Kruse, affectionately known at the station as “Kruser,” said leaving the station “was not an easy decision,” telling listeners that she will be “hanging up” her headphones on Aug. 28.

The radio station is holding a retirement party for Kruse called “Kruser’s Last Call” on Aug. 20 at Six String Grille & Stage.

“We are looking forward to honoring Kruser for all of her hard work, dedication and unwavering support of both local and national country artists,” the radio station wrote on its website. “She is a big part of Country 102.5, and we want to celebrate her to the fullest.”

In her retirement, Kruse said she plans to spend time with family and try new things.

“The time is right to let my radio song play out,” she said. “I’m going out with a bang.”
