“Boston, thank you for an incredible 6 years!”
Reporter Malini Basu announced Friday she is departing Boston 25 News for her “dream job.”The three-time Emmy-winning journalist shared the news on Twitter, writing that she will take up her new position next month. “If there is something I wanted more than anything during my professional career, it’s to be in the same city as my family,” she wrote. “The pandemic has made it even more clearer for me. That dream job has finally come true! I’ll be starting a new job next month, in news.”Basu joined Boston 25 in 2015 as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. Born in Kolkata, India, and raised in Queens, New York, Basu did not specify in her post where she is headed but wrote that she would share more “soon.”“Boston, thank you for an incredible 6 years!” she wrote. “From going to El Salvador’s gang prison, to the streets of hard hit Chelsea during the pandemic, to winning 3x Emmys. I’m so thankful for the good people around me.”
Will post more about it soon.
