‘It was absolutely terrifying’: WPRI reporter and anchor Caroline Goggin recovering after stroke

The 27-year-old credited her husband with saving her life.

WPRI reporter and anchor Caroline Goggin says she is recovering after suffering a stroke last week.The 27-year-old shared over the weekend that she suffered the medical emergency on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 8.“It was absolutely terrifying,” Goggin wrote on Instagram of the ordeal.She said her husband, Travis Eldridge, “immediately recognized something was wrong” and acted to get her help. The couple was married less than a month ago. “Because of his quick work in calling 911, he quite literally saved my life,” she said.The 27-year-old journalist spent the week in the hospital but is now at home and feeling “lucky.”“My doctors are still searching for more answers, but the good news is — I’m okay,” she wrote. “I can walk and talk, and I still have my strength. It feels weird to say I’ve had a stroke, but this week reminded me how lucky I am to be surrounded by the people I have in my life. Thank you to everyone who has prayed or reached out.”

Goggin said she is feeling grateful for her husband, who held her hand “for every early morning round of bloodwork” and didn’t leave her side while she was in the hospital.
