WBZ NewsRadio reporter Lana Jones dies suddenly
Jones worked at the station since 1991.
Lana Jones, a reporter for WBZ NewsRadio 1030, died suddenly Wednesday morning at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, according to the station.
A Warren, Ohio, native, Jones moved to Worcester in 1981 to work for WAAF. She went on to work for WMJX and WHDH before joining WBZ in 1991.
“Lana was the consummate professional who could take a hundred page Supreme Court Decision and boil it down into a concise report for our listeners,” Bill Flaherty, WBZ’s program director, said in a statement. “She knew everyone and everything. She will be greatly missed.”

WBZ’s Carl Stevens said Jones reminded him “that there is good in this world.”
Rest in peace, my friend, Lana Jones. She passed away early this morning after collapsing in her home. It was my great privilege to work with her for years, and I learned a great deal about being a reporter from her. She reminded me that there is good in this world.

Jones was working up until Tuesday, covering longtime Patriots broadcaster Gil Santos’ wake, according to her Twitter account.
She is survived by her husband, Steve, the station reported.
