WCVB announces longtime meteorologist Dick Albert has died

Dick Albert, WCVB’s former chief meteorologist, died Friday after complications from pneumonia, the station announced Friday evening. He was 73.

Albert, a Newton native, was on local TV for 31 years, the station said. He joined WCVB in 1978 and retired in 2009, earning multiple regional Emmys along the way.

On Friday, WCVB spoke with Albert’s former Channel 5 colleagues, Harvey Leonard, Natalie Jacobson, and Mike Lynch.
