Passenger throws liquid on MBTA bus driver. Driver retaliates, gets suspended.
Warning: Video contains explicit language
When asked to pay her bus fare last week, a passenger refused and then threw a cup of liquid on the driver before storming off with a young child who accompanied her in Roxbury, an MBTA spokesman told The Boston Globe.
The female driver, who officials have not identified, then followed the passenger off the bus, where the two began to fight. The passenger was holding the child during the altercation, which was broken up by bystanders. Another passenger filmed everything and later uploaded it to WorldStar Fight’s Facebook page.
Now, the video has nearly 700,000 views and 20,000 shares, and the MBTA has suspended the driver. MBTA Transit Police are also seeking to press charges against both the driver and the passenger, whom they have yet to identify.
“While it’s very clear that the passenger was the instigator, it’s incumbent upon the bus operator to demonstrate restraint and allow police to handle such a matter. Two wrongs do not make a right,’’ MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said.
