Boston Yeti is Surprise Guest in Mayor’s St. Patrick’s Video

Mayor Marty Walsh landed a very special St. Patrick’s Day guest: The Boston Yeti.

Saturday night, the Yeti exclusively announced on Boston.com that he had something big in the works. Now we know what it was: He’s apparently replacing Walsh. (Or at least he is in the joke video posted above.)

The mayor and the Yeti, as well as some other surprise guests, shot the video last weekend, but managed to keep it secret until Sunday’s St. Patrick’s Day breakfast. Walsh debuted it there, in keeping with the breakfast’s traditional servings of Irish wit.

The breakfast, hosted by state Sen. Linda Dorcena Forry, opened with a video in which she and Gov. Charlie Baker took the bus to the breakfast — a joke about the MBTA’s winter woes.

Baker wore a MEMA vest in the style of his predecessor, Deval Patrick. He joked that the weather forecast for the politician-filled breakfast was “high levels of hot air.’’

Senator Elizabeth Warren delivered one of the most pointed jokes of the day: “This winter has been so brutal that Mitt Romney left his money here and he went to the Cayman Islands.’’

The breakfast also included a call from Vice President Joe Biden, and Patriots owner Bob Kraft showing off his personal space saver: a Vince Lombardi trophy.

Full disclosure: The author of this post is a supporter of the Yeti who knew him before he was famous. His real name is being kept anonymous because it’s more fun for everyone that way.
