Maine is getting its third Market Basket. Here’s when it opens.

The cult-favorite supermarket chain is expanding its footprint in Maine with the addition of a new Topsham outpost.

More on Market Basket:

Mainers will soon see more for their dollar when the state’s third Market Basket location opens in Topsham next week.

The new 80,000 square-foot store is slated to open on June 14 at 169 Topsham Fair Mall Road. Joining Market Basket’s other Maine locations in Biddeford and Westbrook, the new store will feature a butcher’s market, “Market’s Kitchen,” a cafe area with seating, and more than 50,000 grocery items, the supermarket chain said in a news release.

The Topsham store is Market Basket’s 90th active location, according to the release. The cult-favorite chain got its start in Lowell in 1917.

“Market Basket is eager to join the greater Topsham community and we appreciate the warm welcome and support we have received to date,” Market Basket CEO Arthur T. Demoulas said in a statement. “This is a great opportunity for Market Basket to provide additional shopping options to the community, in addition to approximately 300 new jobs for new and existing associates to build successful careers.”

He added: “It’s been wonderful to hear from community members about how eager they are for us to open our doors; we can’t wait to welcome them on June 14.”
