New Trader Joe’s location coming to the South Shore

A new Trader Joe’s location is coming to the South Shore … in 2027.
Rumors of the store’s opening had long swirled throughout Quincy, with city officials referring to it as the “Grocer Who Shalt Not Be Named.”
In a Wednesday social media post, the City confirmed that the mystery grocery store is in fact Trader Joe’s.
The Trader Joe’s will anchor a development project on McConville Way and is expected to be completed in 2027, the City announced.

The South Shore currently has two locations of the specialty grocery store, one in Hingham and another in Hanover.
Developers for the Atlantic Development/Hanovor Company submitted a six-page signage plan on Tuesday, the social media post said.
“It is the first time Trader Joe’s has been included on any official document related to the development,” the City said.
The plan also includes 300 spaces of housing, a parking garage, and a Chipotle, the plan shows.
“Trader Joe’s will be a great addition, and it’s also an incredibly important symbol of the progress we’ve made together as a community restoring the vitality of our downtown over the years,” Mayor Tom Koch said in the post.

The major developments along McConville Way will also a 100,000 square-foot ambulatory care center run by Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the City said. Construction on the center began last year, the healthcare system said.
The healthcare facility is also scheduled to be completed in 2027, the City said.
