Man accused of recording people in South Shore library bathroom
Police say the hidden device was discovered by staff at the public library in Cohasset.
Police arrested a Marshfield man Wednesday after he allegedly recorded people inside a public restroom at the Paul Pratt Public Library in Cohasset.
Library staff discovered the hidden recording device inside a unisex restroom and immediately notified police, according to a statement from the Cohasset Police Department.
Detectives seized the device and conducted a forensic analysis, which they said confirmed it contained recordings made of individuals using the restroom without their knowledge.
Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as Thomas Campbell, 63, of Marshfield. He is charged with illegal wiretapping and video recording of individuals in a state of nudity without their knowledge or consent, according to police.

At least one victim has been identified and notified, police said.
Campbell is being held on $2,500 cash bail at the Cohasset Police Department and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Quincy District Court, according to court records.
“This is a serious and disturbing violation of personal privacy. I commend the library staff for their quick action, which directly led to the resolution of this case,” Cohasset Police Chief William Quigley said. “This investigation also highlights the critical role that video surveillance systems play in protecting the public and solving crimes.”
