Police fatally shoot person with knife at Weymouth park, DA says

Officers responded to a 911 call at Webb Memorial State Park, where the victim was reportedly “in distress” and armed with a knife.

A police officer in Weymouth shot and killed a person who was allegedly armed with a knife at a state park Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Around 4 p.m., Weymouth police responded to a 911 call for service at the Webb Memorial State Park off River Street, according to a statement from Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey.

When police arrived, they encountered an individual, allegedly holding a knife, who appeared to be “in distress,” according to Morrissey’s office. An officer discharged their weapon and struck the person.

Police immediately provided medical aid before the individual was transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead, officials said.
