A 45-year-old woman died following a two-car crash in Newton Tuesday afternoon, authorities say.
A preliminary investigation found that at around 4:30 p.m., two vehicles collided in the area of Walnut Street and Judith Road, according to a statement from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
The woman’s vehicle then struck a tree after the initial collision, officials said. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle did not suffer serious injuries, according to the district attorney’s office.
The identities of both drivers have not been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
