An Uxbridge man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after authorities said Google detected and reported child sexual abuse material in the man’s online account.
Scott Morrill, 52, was sentenced in federal court in Worcester to 10 years in prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release, according to a statement from Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Leah Foley’s office.
Morrill was arrested and charged in April 2025 after investigators searched his home and found a laptop containing images and videos of child sexual abuse material, according to charging documents.
At the time, Morrill was on federal supervised release for a 2013 conviction for distributing child pornography, for which he was sentenced to five years in federal prison.
Morrill pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in October 2025.
Prosecutors said Morrill had used a Google account to store hundreds of illicit images. Google identified the use and reported it to the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, which then alerted law enforcement.
A subsequent investigation found additional child abuse materials stored in both Morrill’s Google account and on a computer that he possessed at his home, according to the criminal complaint.
