MBTA bus crashes into parked cars, home in Medford
“We were very lucky, that’s all I can say,” the 98-year-old homeowner told The Boston Globe.
An investigation is underway after an MBTA bus reportedly crashed into several parked cars in Medford Sunday morning before smashing into a home’s front steps.
The bus swerved off the street and across a front yard on Playstead Road around 1:44 a.m, the 98-year-old homeowner told The Boston Globe. The woman, who was asleep at the time, said the bus hit parked cars in the process, and the vehicles came to a rest about a foot from her front window.
“We were very lucky, that’s all I can say,” she told the Globe. “If it had hit the house, it would have taken out the whole front.”

MBTA Transit Police Supt. Richard Sullivan confirmed the incident is under investigation but declined to comment or provide further details.
However, he told the Globe the bus hit two parked vehicles, “which in turn were propelled forward along with the bus and into the house.” According to Sullivan, the bus driver claimed to have lost control on “black ice.”
Playstead Road is along the route for the 95 bus.
