A worker was seriously injured after a bucket truck overturned into oncoming traffic Wednesday morning in Cambridge, police said.
At around 9 a.m., troopers responded to a report that a bucket truck had been knocked onto its side and into oncoming traffic on Memorial Drive, according to a statement from Massachusetts State Police.
The worker — who was in the bucket at the time of the incident, Boston 25 News reports — was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, police said. Authorities did not immediately release the individual’s identity.
The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation closed the roadway from North Harvard Street to Memorial Drive on John F. Kennedy Street while crews worked to recover the vehicle, police said.
The road was expected to remain closed for several hours, police said. The closure will stay in place while the Occupational Safety and Health Administration conducts its portion of the investigation.
The State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the State Police Detective Unit are also investigating the crash, police said.
